Alongside Paul M., he is alleged to have arranged instruction courses where leftwing extremists trained in fighting methods and simulated violent actions. At depots managed by Paul M, the network reportedly stockpiled hammers, irritant sprays, concealment items and mobile phones.

Prior legal cases and international reactions

A different activist formerly involved with the organization, Lina E., emerged as a cause celebre within some far-left activist circles following her conviction in 2023 for targeting suspected right-wing individuals.

America's terrorist listing renders organization affiliates barred from entering the US, blocks financial holdings they may have within the American economy and criminalizes providing material support to them.

Germany's far-right AfD party welcomed the US decision and urged the government in Berlin to take similar action. However, the German foreign ministry merely commented it had “taken note” of the US designation.

“The danger posed by the organization has recently decreased significantly. The ringleaders and most aggressive participants have already been convicted or remain detained.”
